Kate, here with another strips idea using up cardstock scraps. I just love making cards with strips and now you can add a wow factor if you make your strips float on a piece of craft plastic. See-thru cards are trending, and I wanted to try this floating embellishments technique myself!
Let me show you how!
Supplies:
- Bazzill Smoothies in Tangerine Blast and Moody Blue
- Bazzill Card Shoppe in Candy Necklace and Citrus Slice
- Craft Plastic
- Stamp sets from Stampin Up! and Waffleflower crafts
Start with a piece of craft plastic measuring 4" x 5 1/4". Glue down your strips to the front of your craft plastic with double-sided tape. Bearly Arts Craft Glue also works but you need to allow for drying time.
Now flip over your strips panel and apply thin strips of foam tape on the back of the craft plastic (hiding the foam behind the strips of card stock).
Mount this piece of craft plastic onto a white or solid colored cardstock base and embellish with stamped designs or the ephemera packs in the shop. Your strips look like they are floating on the card.
It’s really that simple! My color combination was inspired by a color combination on the 12x12 Cardstock Shop Instagram. You'll find a highlight button here with lots of fun color combination ideas. I always like to check there when I’m stuck on a color scheme.

I’m confused! You attach the strips to the plastic piece using double-sided tape; then flip the piece over (plastic side up with strips inside), doesn’t the double-sided tape strips show behind the strips?? Or are you using CLEAR double-sided tape? Or using a tape roller????
