Bigger is better! And less work, right? If you use large letters as the focus of a card, there's not much else that needs to be done. Large typography is a trend we are seeing in both card making and scrapbooking!

Design Team member Kate is here with three ideas on using letters as your main focal point on handmade cards. 

Supplies: 

1. YAY card with letters as the background

Kate took the coverplate die from The Stamp Market (just the letters of the word 'birthday") and cut it from Bazzill Card Shoppe in Marshmallow. She adhered the letters in different orientations to make the background, creating a tone on tone background. (Don't be afraid to do this in color as well!) *Bearly Arts glue is great for gluing intricate shapes* She then cut 2 Y's and an A from the same coverplate from Mirri Sparkle Glitter Cardstock in Wild Orchid to form the focal sentiment.

Don't forget to stack several white diecuts behind these letters to add dimension. A heat embossed "Happy Birthday" stamped on Sirio Ultra Black 170 lb Cardstock completes the card.

2. YOU card with giant letters

Even if you don't have the correct letters, you can make do. Kate used the JOY diecut from My Favorite Things to write YOU for this patterned beauty.

If you don't have the right letter dies, you can get creative! The U is made with two of the Js flip-flopped. This double sided Sky Blue Floral from American Crafts allows for a plaid strip in the center of the card. Bazzill Card Shoppe in Circus Peanuts picks up the orange in the center of the delicate daisies.

3. HAPPY card: This card is easy and straightforward, right? Yes, you can cut each letter individually to get your rainbow. BUT, how about cutting the whole die fully in each color? That way you get five cards in one card making session.

A "happy" card can be for any occasion: birthday, wedding, graduation, baby, anything!
