DIY Valentine Box Idea

Thu, Jan 08, 26 . Michelle Price

Hi Crafty Friends!! Amanda here from Lace Designs Studio. Today we’ll be working on the cutest Valentine’s Day mailbox. This is a great DIY Valentine Box Idea for classroom valentines.

This Valentine SVG project uses a file found on Creative Fabrica and you can grab the file here.

DIY Valentine Box Tutorial

The first thing I did was glue my small heart onto the flag, and then grab a brad to push through the hole of the flag, and then through the long piece which will become the sides of our mailbox. Once your brad is in place, you’ll be able to move the flag around.

Next, we’re going to attach the first side of our mailbox. The short wide layer that has three total flaps is the bottom of our mailbox. The side where the brad is attached should be opposite from the short flap. The flag and brad will be towards the front of the mailbox, while the flap that’s attached to the bottom will be the back part of the mailbox. I glued the first side of the box and then grabbed the rounded panel that does NOT have a scored bottom and glued it to the shorter tab. I then folded along the score lines and began adding glue, starting with the straight flap and working my way to the other side of the rounded panel.

Now we’ll flip towards the front of the mailbox and start working on the front panel. While I glued the embellishments at the end, you can go ahead and glue them (heart and name tag) while it’s still flat. I grabbed the front panel and folded along the tabs before grabbing my red long skinny strip to glue along the side of the tabs. Once the strip is completely glued, I added my heart and the small rectangular pieces that you can actually use your Cricut pen to personalize, if you wanted to.

Lastly, we’ll go ahead and add glue to the inside bottom part of the mailbox so we can glue the flap from the front of the box inside.

Once it’s attached and dry, you can add snacks or a special love letter inside. While adorable for Valentine’s Day, you can also use this for holiday gifting to your mail couriers!

And if you need a DIY Valentine Box for the classroom, this is a great option you can make with your kids!
