Emergent Colors Cardmaking Tutorial Using Alcohol Markers and Die Cuts

Got alcohol markers? You know how they always bleed through your cardstock? Let's use this to our advantage!
Design Team Member Kate saw this cool cardstock coloring technique on Splitcoaststampers.com and had to give it a try. The technique is called emergent colors and she's here today to share this easy tutorial using die cuts and alcohol markers.
Supplies:
- Bazzill Card Shoppe in Spearmint Stick
- Bazzill Smoothies in Apple Crush, Crystal Blue, Cherry Blossom
- Alcohol Markers (like Copics)
- Leaf Die from Spellbinders
The basic concept of this technique is to achieve a shaded look on your cardstock using alcohol markers. You are going to color on the BACK of the diecut and have this ink bleed through to the other side. The ink is going to EMERGE through to the correct side. The more you color, the more ink that emerges!
Kate tested this emergent colors technique out on Bazzill Card Shoppe and Bazzill smoothies and here's the results:
Kate tested this technique on Bazzill Card Shoppe and it worked fine, but she really liked the results she got using the Bazzill Smoothies line. The ink bled through much more evenly and gave a better result since Smoothies is a lighter weight cardstock than Card Shoppe.
The cool thing about this alcohol marker technique is that the color bleeds through unevenly giving you an almost watercolor look.
