Easy Handmade Card Idea Using Cardstock Circles

Design Team Member Kate is really in love with all the color combos that our Encore Textured Cardstock has to offer. Because there are so many options you'll often find light and dark versions of the same colors. Kate is here today with an easy handmade card idea that highlights all those great cardstock color combos. The finished card is so cool and almost looks like an optical illusion. And bonus, this is a great way to use up cardstock scraps.
Easy Handmade Card Idea Using Cardstock Scraps
Let's get started. Choose a few coordinating colors and cut a circle from each shade, one dark and one light. (I've got some color combo options for you below).
Cut two card panels (4 x 5 1/4 inches) and line the outer part of the rectangle with 10 circles as shown in the photo.
Make one panel of darker colored circles and the other panel with the lighter colors. Make sure the circles on each panel are in the exact same color order.
Now take a rectangle die and cut out a rectangle from the center of the panel. Switch the center rectangles.
Be sure to pop up the center rectangle with foam tape for added dimension. The shadow created by the foam just adds to the optical illusion effect. Kate added a black birthday sentiment and some stars cut from gold foil to finish off her card.
This easy handmade card idea can be the base of so many different kinds of cards and we love that it is a great way to use up cardstock scraps.
Here are a few of the pretty cardstock combinations Kate used on her card.
