Switched Strip Handmade Card Tutorial Using Scrap Cardstock

Switched Strip Handmade Card Tutorial Using Scrap Cardstock

Design Team Member Kate here, ready to share another fun cardstock strip idea for you to try out! Have you ever had a "duh" moment? I've seen several versions of this handmade card idea on Instagram and Pinterest, but could never understand how it was made. In my defense, all the samples I saw only had one card in the photo.  Not until I saw a photo with two cards, did I finally get it!

Handmade Card Tutorial Using Scrap Cardstock

First I chose my color palette and cut the cardstock into strips.

Then I covered a scrap piece of printer paper (measuring 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches) with adhesive and attached my strips horizontally.  Make sure the strips are pressed tightly together. Then trim off the pieces overlapping the base piece so it is nice and clean.

Next I cut the panel in half at 2 1/8 inches.

Using a circle die (any symmetrical die will work--think heart, square, hexagon), I cut out three shapes from the center, using the strips as a guide to make sure all three cuts were evenly spaced.

After cutting the panel, I separated the two sides and switched the diecuts as shown in the photo.

Now all that's left is to add a sentiment.
