Floating Element Window Card Tutorial

Here's an idea for a card you can make with a floating WOW factor! These floating element window cards are easier than you might imagine once you know the technique. And just think of the possibilities: stars, balloons, hearts, flowers....

Let's get started!

Supplies:

For this card, you will need a set of shaped dies. I used circles, but you can really use any shape you have for your window.

I cut a circle in my patterned paper (Autumn Bouquet by Echo Park) and the card panel I used for the base (Robin's Egg).  Then using the Robin's Egg as a template, I cut a circle in my card base. *If your diecutting machine can cut through all three layers at one time, feel free to do it.  Mine did not, so I needed to cut in stages.*  You need your shapes to line up in all 3 layers to form a window.

Moving on to the "floater".  Sandwich a piece of clear thread in between 2 leaf diecuts.  Attach the thread to the top and bottom of your window, then cover up that glued thread with your patterned paper.  Now your leaf hangs in your window!

Finally,  I took 2 circle dies (the one I used for my window and the next size up) to make a frame to give my window a more finished look.

You can leave the inside of your card white or lay a piece of coordinating cardstock inside to add more color.
