Handmade Gift Card Holder Tutorial Great For Teacher Gift

Wed, Nov 26, 25 . tara wilder

It's that time of year when you want to thank those who work hard all year long (like that USPS, UPS or FedEx driver who brings you all your 12x12 Cardstock Shop Paper!) Design Team Member Kate is here with a cute and quick handmade gift card holder for you to make for this season's gift giving. This is also a great idea for a teacher gift.

Gift Card Holder Template

Start with a sheet of cardstock that measures 5 1/2 inches by 8 1/2 inches (standard A2 card base). Score at 4 1/4 inches to make your center card fold.

Decide where you want your pocket.  *This card can be portrait or landscape*   Cut only the top layer of the card 1 1/4 inches from the edge.
This flap will now become your pocket.  Adhere the pocket to the back of the card on ONLY 3 sides, as shown in the photo below.

Now that you have your pocket, all you need to do is decorate!
If you are using double sided patterned paper (which is perfect for this design) you will need a piece cut to 4 inches x 4 inches for the front and another strip measuring 1 inch x 4 inches (this will go on top of the pocket and can be the alternate pattern).

You may also need a square of 4 x 4 inches cardstock for the inside panel to have a place to write your sentiment if you use a dark colored card base.

And there you have it!

This would be a great card to use all year long for every season, just change the front embellishments and paper!  Birthday cards with cash, Mother's/Father's Day cards with coupons, and even a card with a secret note inside!
