Teacher Appreciation Shaker Magnets

I recently made these amazing shaker magnets for my son’s teachers and everyone went crazy over them. I’m excited to share below a step by step guide on how you can make these too.

Lets get started...

Supplies:

For this project I chose to cut an apple shape. I used a file from Cricut Design Space program, but you can use any other cutting software or even dies you may have on hand. I created offset layers for the apple shape. I also added the teachers name and added offset layers for the name. I chose a banner shape to add behind the name. See below for all the cuts for this project.

Remember, you don't have to have these exact shapes and can substitute with anything similar.

Tip: for smaller more finer cuts like the first layer of the name, I prefer to cut on vinyl to keep track of the intricate cuts like the dots on letters etc. When you add this to a cardstock layer it provides all the stability it needs.

I use foam tape to stick together the offset layers of the names and banner to create a more layered 3D effect and make the design pop.

To form the shaker base, I used 3 layers of craft foam to create enough space to incorporate the shaker elements. I used cold silicone glue to stick these together.

Glue the foam layers on the solid apple shape and add shaker sequins and beads. Glue the acetate on top of the foam and lastly add the holographic layer of the top apple slice. Then using the foam tape add the offset layers. The banner with name can be added to the acetate on top. Finally glue the magnetic sheet on the back.

The finished size for the magnet is 4.5" x 4.5".
