Dreaming Tree Clown Card + Beginner Card Making Tip

Dreaming Tree Clown Card + Beginner Card Making Tip

Hello 12X12 Cardstock Shop and Dreaming Tree fans! It is time for the monthly collaboration between these two fantastic companies. This month I made this awesome Clowning Around Card project from Dreaming Tree as a birthday card.

This project comes with the numbers 0-9 to personalize your card, but I like to make cards ahead of time for my stash. I will then personalize it with the number when I use it. This card doesn’t have to be used for a birthday card. There are six print and cut sentiments that come along with the card, one being an invitation for a child’s birthday party. Here is the one I chose for mine.

This also comes with a matching envelope.

I love when a card has the matching envelope as it looks so much more finished.

How To Fold Cardstock Without Getting Cracks

You know I try to give you all a tip for crafting every month but sometimes it gets harder and harder. Then I got to thinking, there are some new guys and gals that are just starting out making cards or scrapbooking, so this week is more for the newbies. I remember when I learned this and it was like the skies opened up!

When you crease your fold on your card, do you sometimes get a split at the crease or tiny splits? We hopefully will solve this for you today.

card base
You will take your card base (mine isn’t to scale, I am using scrap paper), and with the outside of the card facing up at you, you are going to fold the card in half.  YES, with right side up, you fold it so that the right side is on the inside…..go ahead.

Here is what the outside crease will look like.  Sometimes it will have the splits in it, but we will fix that with the next step.

Now turn the card right side out. Take your bone folder and push your crease down in place.

Here is your creased card, no splits whatsoever. If you had any, it would be on the inside. It also helps to have the right cardstock. My cardstock doesn’t split because I use Encore Textured Cardstock or Neenah Classic Crest Solar White. Both are sold here at 12X12 Cardstock Shop!

I hope you enjoy making this fun clown card and using my tip for new card makers. Happy crafting!
