Ever need a specific blend of colored cardstock and nothing in your stash fits the bill? Make your own! Design Team member Kate is here with an idea for inking your cardstock to get the perfect shade and mottled design for your card making and die cuts.

Kate has had this light yellow cardstock in her stash FOREVER (so long, she doesn't even remember where it's from), saving it for the perfect project that never came. She needed a specific color and nothing in her stash quite read "french fry". So she took the pale yellow cardstock and made it french fry colored with this ink technique!

She took some shades of Distress Oxide inks and smooshed them on her glass mat. Make sure to smoosh the lighter colors first so as to not ruin the other ink pads.

Spray the ink smooshes with water and smoosh your cardstock into the wet ink.
Keep picking up ink until the cardstock is covered. Allow to dry between layers and add more colors to your liking.

Don't like the color? Wet the paper, remove some ink with a paper towel and keep smooshing. Add splatter if you want as well!

Allow the paper to dry completely then use it to diecut your "fries".

Now you have a custom marbled color stain for your perfectly "cooked" french fries!

Make sure you try out this awesome paper craft technique and start experimenting. Use it for flowers, leaves, and backgrounds. The possibilities are endless!
