Easy Card Idea Using Specialty Cardstock

Easy Card Idea Using Specialty Cardstock

handmade card featuring foil cardstock

A beautiful handmade card doesn't have to take hours! You can get the most gorgeous results by using specialty papers like glitter cardstock or foil cardstock. The sea horse card I am sharing today used both to create a stunning under the sea card.

Supplies:

This Sea Horse Card Design can be found in the Silhouette Studio Library, but you don't have to use this particular design. There are hundreds of card SVG files available for Cricut and Silhouette users, so browse around and find one you like.

I chose top make my card a larger 5x7 inch size so that it fits in an A2 envelope. To achieve that I used the following dimensions when I laid out my card in my cutting software

  • SeaHorse Card 10 x 7 inches (unfolded)
  • Internal Card 6.7 x 4.8 inches

The elegance in this card comes from layering pretty papers behind the cut out lacy design. I first cut a backing piece for the sea horse out of American Crafts Glitter Cardstock in Sunflower and adhered it to the back of the sea horse on the inside of the card.

Next I adhered a piece of blue foil to the inside front of the card, so that the relief effect can be seen.

Super easy, but stunning when the layers of specialty cardstock are added.
