DIY Father's Day Treat Boxes

These DIY Father's Day Treat Boxes are perfect for Dads with a sweet tooth! Dad doesn’t like candy? Contour the holes on the insert and slice in some new shapes for whatever you’d like to put inside. You can also omit the insert completely and give Dad a gift card to his favorite restaurant or store. Endless possibilities!

The best part is that this is super fast to assemble, especially if you’re last minute like I am. 😂

Father's Day Gift Box DIY

I decided to start with the insert and then the assembly of the bottom portion of the box. To start with the insert, I folded along the scored lines. There’s nothing to glue on this so just set it aside for a second. For the bottom of the box, you’ll need to fold along the scored lines like we did for the insert, but then apply glue on the tabs to form the box. Once this is done, you can go ahead and place the insert inside and put your candy or gift items inside and set aside.

Next, we’re going to start assembling the lid. To do this I am going to fold along the scored lines and glue the tabs, just like we did for the bottom portion of the box. Once it’s glued, you can set it on top of the box to close it and gently push it aside.

Lastly, we’ll assemble the tuxedo part that will then be glued directly to the lid. To start, I glued the strip that will serve as buttons to the “T” that will look like the button down part of the shirt. Then I flipped over the cardstock and using a Sharpie, I shaped a small curve on the corners. You can use any round object- like a pen or stylus, or keep it flat - whatever you desire. Once that was done, I added glue along the top and down the strip so that my curved flaps would not be glued directly down, and tried my best to center it to the piece that will serve as the shirt (rectangle base).

Next, I flipped over the tuxedo piece and applied glue to the back before lining it up to set it directly on the shirt. Once that was completed, I applied glue to the back of the assembled tuxedo and applied it to the lid of the box we set aside earlier.

It’s time for some flair! I used my Sharpie again and shaped the outside flap of the tuxedo so that it wouldn’t lay flat. Again, optional but it gives a beautiful finished look. I applied glue on the inside and placed it on the lid. Next I grabbed the bow and you guessed it, I used the Sharpie to curve it! :) I lined up the edges to where they needed to be folded and then glued. I also used the Sharpie again to add a curve back into the bow by placing it inside each fold and then glued it onto the box.

Our final step is totally optional, but I wanted my Dad to feel extra special and so what better way than telling him he’s the #1 Dad :) I glued the lettering directly to my offset and then added foamies (I used blue so they’d match my cardstock and have a really pretty, seamless side view!) And then placed them directly onto the lid.
