Hey, crafters! Happy Thursday!
For this month’s blog post, I wanted to give card making a try! If you have read any of my previous blog posts or you follow me on Instagram, then you know that I design and create paper party decorations. Since joining 12x12 Cardstock Shop's Design Team, I have always wanted to try my hand at making cards. Several of my fellow Design Team members create beautiful cards and they make it look so fun.
To get started, I chose a fairly simple design for this project, but amped it up a bit by using different cardstock patterns and colors. I created a pretty springtime patchwork butterfly card. Here's how I made it...
Supplies:
- A few sheets of patterned paper in different colors; I used sheets from the County Floral pack by DCWV
- Zig chisel tip glue pen, or your favorite craft glue
- Scissors
- Cricut Design Space file #M10115F You don’t have to use this file, and if you are a seasoned card maker (unlike myself), then I'm sure you have a butterfly die cut in your collection that can work with this project. Don’t forget to also check out free templates online!Â
This card is easy to make.  Cut out your card using your Cricut, or punch out butterflies.Â
Next, use patterned paper to cover the butterfly cutouts from the inside of the card. I used blank sheet of cardstock to cover the patch work (next step).
I don’t have the prettiest handwriting, so I used the draw feature on my Cricut machine to write out my sentiment. This folded card get glued inside the patchwork part of the card to cover the messy part!
TIP: Use old scrap paper to fill the butterfly cutouts. I totally would have, but there were so many beautiful patterns in this pack that I just had to use it!Â
And there you have it! I’ve been loving everything butterfly lately and if you are ready for Spring like I am, then this card is just the right project for you! Thank you for reading! Let me know what you think about this card in the comments below and remember to tag 12x12 Cardstock Shop on Facebook or Instagram so that we can see your work!
Happy Crafting!

Lovely card, papers I agree are so pretty. Would be a cute bunch of note cards to send to a friend as a gift. Tyfs and inspiring.
