DIY Christmas Treat Box

DIY Christmas Treat Box

Hi crafty friends! Guest Designer Amanda here. I created a small chimney decorated Santa box that holds a few candies and wanted to share it with you. This project cut file, Chimney Candy Box, is not only fast to cut, but also fast to assemble! It’s perfect for making DIY Christmas teacher gifts or classroom gifts and is a fun DIY Christmas craft.

First, cut out all your pieces from your cutting machine. If uploading and cutting in Cricut Design Space, while the project is grouped, use the following measurements 10.53” W x 9.325” H for a completed box that measures 2.5” (before adding Santa’s legs). You can resize it as large or as small as you’d like, but do it while grouped.

Once I had everything cut, I started by gluing the brick pattern onto the flat base of the box. Here is where using the tweezers and Bearly Art Glue’s precision tip comes in handy because the outline of the brick pattern is thin and you don’t want too much glue coming out.

Once all four panels were glued, I set the box aside and assembled the Santa outfit. I grabbed the base layer with the dashed lines and glued his red pants onto it, just above where the dashed lines are. Then I glued the white trim onto his pants.

Next, I went ahead and assembled the lid for our box. I folded along all the dashed cut lines and then glued the tiny flaps into the underside of the lid. Once that was done, I grabbed my box so I could start forming the shape.

Now you’ll want to fold along the dashed cut lines on the box. To glue, you can do so by folding the box in half right where the glue tab is so that it remains flat. Once the side of the box is glued you can turn it over so we can glue the bottom tabs. I used hot glue here just because I appreciate the fast dry - but you can use Bearly Art glue as well. Once your bottom tabs have been folded and glued, you’ll have the closed bottom of the box.

Now we’re going to flip our box over and fill it with candy. Next, take Santa and right where the dashed lines are, fold that flap so that it will go into the large slice on the lid. Once you have pushed Santa through, we’ll turn it over and glue the tab onto the inside of the lid. This will help keep Santa nice and firm in place. You can now put the lid on top and admire your filled chimney box 😉
