Easter Silhouettes Cardstock Strips Card Making Technique

If you have stamps, you likely have the matching dies. But have you ever considered using the dies without the stamps?

Here, Design Team Member Kate uses her favorite cardstock strips card making technique and Easter dies to make some quick and easy silhouette cards for Easter. Kate first introduced this strip technique to us two years ago, and there have been numerous projects made in this style since, because we love it so much for using up scraps!

Supplies:

cardstock strips card making technique

Use your scrap cardstock to cut out all sizes of strips. You can even buy strip dies to cut out specific widths that all match.

adhering cardstock strips to a card

Glue your strips down to thin copy paper (Tombow Mono Adhesive works great for this!) Then use a shaped die to cut out your strips into a background shape.

Now for the fun part. Go though your stamp sets with coordinating dies and find images that resemble actual shapes.

You can use this technique for every occasion! Think pumpkins, leaves, snowflakes, hearts, even animals and people! The possibilities are endless.

Switch up the direction of the strips and do vertical, horizontal or diagonal for a fun change.

You can make these cards as simple as you'd like, or you can step it up like in the leaf card above where I've cut the strips apart to make designs.

And the silhouettes don't even have to be black. The leaf card uses a leaf die cut from cream and gold with the strips arranged in a woven pattern.
