Hi! Kandice here, and “It’s for you and only you”!
Are you a flower lover? Do you love fresh and/or paper flowers? Well, if you do, this card is the perfect card for you! The only hard part is deciding which colors to use for your flowers. In today's tutorial we'll make a handmade card that looks like one of those trendy shadow box frames.
Supplies:
- Bright White Glitter Luxe Cardstock
- Woodgrain Cardstock in Nickel
- Thai Unryu Mulberry Paper in Dark Purple, Mauve, Lavender, and Violet
- White Mixed Sized Pearl Embellishments
- Bearly Art Precision Craft Glue
- Ink – Brutus Monroe – Alabaster Pigment Ink
- Dies - Generic Flower Petals, Honey Bee Stamps - Wood Frame Builder, Altenew - Fancy For You
How to Make a Faux Shadow Box Card
For today’s project, I used one small and one large simple flower petal die, to die-cut flower petals from four shades of purple from the Thai Unryu Mulberry Paper. This paper is so light and airy, it gives you the same effect of real flowers!
Next, I cut a 5”x 7” card panel from the Bright White Glitter Luxe cardstock and adhered the flower petals to the card panel.
After I cut off the excess flower petals from the card panel, I used a frame die to cut a paper frame, using the Woodgrain cardstock paper in the color nickel.
To lighten up the paper and add a white wash effect to the frame, I used white pigment ink to lightly brush the woodgrain frame.
After the frame was glued to the card panel, I adhered white pearl embellishments to the centers of the flower petals and used the same bright white glitter card stock to die-cut a “for you” sentiment. To add a bit of dimension, I die-cut the “for you” sentiment four times using scrap paper, glued them together with the glitter cardstock on top, and adhered it to the bottom left side of the card panel.
Not everyone can enjoy fresh flowers, but if you enjoy paper flowers and even want to give them away, you can have fun with this project! Yes, this project is for you and only you!
Thanks for stopping by, until then :)
Did you know you can emboss mulberry paper too?
