DIY Tooth Fairy Coin

Hi friends! Brenna here with Crafting With Brenna. Can we talk about the tooth fairy situation at my house for a second?

Our tooth fairy is SUPER forgetful. And the teeth are never falling out at a convenient time, either! It always happens when I have a million things on my mind, zero small bills, and absolutely no change in my purse. Also — how much are teeth going for these days, anyway? I genuinely cannot keep track!

Recent events at my house forced me to come up with a crafty solution. Honestly, I think I love it even more than just leaving a dollar under the pillow. I designed this tooth fairy "gold" coin, and while it is a really simple paper craft to make, the gold textured cardstock makes it feel incredibly impressive and totally legit.

How to Make the Tooth Fairy Gold Coin

Step 1: Cut Your File

Download the free file HERE, upload it to your cutting machine software, and cut it out. If you've ever worked with gold cardstock before, you already know that not all gold foil cardstock plays nicely with your cutting machine! One of the reasons I love shopping at 12x12 Cardstock Shop is that their Encore Linen Gold Foil Cardstock cuts beautifully and leaves a clean, crisp edge. My blade was a little dull, so I did 3 passes, but kept the plain cardstock settings the same. It still cut so beautifully!

Step 2: Assemble the Pieces

Start by gluing the cute little tooth piece to the wings and crown. I used my favorite adhesive, Bearly Art Glue, for this project — it's my go-to for any detailed paper crafting.

Step 3: Add Dimension

Glue the ring to the top of the wing piece. This gives the coin a layered, engraved look that really elevates the whole design. The linen texture on the Linen Gold Foil Cardstock also adds beautiful depth to each piece. Try varying the direction of the texture on different parts of the coin so the pieces are easier to distinguish from each other.

Step 4: Glue to the Backing Circle

Now glue the assembled design onto the backing circle, and you're almost done!

Step 5: Choose Your Adventure

Here's where it gets fun. I included back pieces so you can assemble a Heads side AND a Tails side of the coin, which makes it feel extra sturdy and like a real collectible keepsake. You'll just want to leave a small note explaining what the coin means.

I personally decided to use just the front of the coin and write a little note on the back of the paper, telling my child I'd take them out for an ice cream cone. No cash needed!

Why This Tooth Fairy Craft Is Worth Making

Even though it isn't cash, this is something my child will actually remember. It makes their childhood a little more magical and special, and that is absolutely worth the effort, in my opinion. The Linen Gold Foil Cardstock is the real star here. Its texture and shimmer make this little coin look like it came straight from the Tooth Fairy's royal treasury (because it totally did, obviously).
