Paper Strip Checkerboard Card Tutorial

We're always on the lookout for different papercraft techniques to amp up handmade cards and here is another fun one! Design Team Member Kate is back with a twist on card making with paper strips. This week Kate is making a paper checkerboard. We love to follow the paper craft trends and cards made with paper strips are still trending, so let's dive right into this cardmaking tutorial.

Paper Strips Card Making Tutorial

Kate used a die to cut her cardstock into strips.  (This die is 1/4 inch, but any thickness will do). Using a piece of thin computer paper, apply the strips in your desired color pattern.  Kate used a sheet of adhesive applied to the computer (scrap) paper for easy gluing.

Once the strips are adhered (and dried if using liquid adhesive), cut the panel into strips against the grain of the strips as wide as the original strips (in this case, 1/4 inch, but you cut your new strips in the width of the original strips).

Stagger the strips to create different patterns.  Use different widths to make different designs.

Now use this new panel to decorate your card.

You can also use some of your strips for a fun non staggering design!
