We all know that Design Team Member Kate is obsessed with paper strips. She's back again with a great idea for cardstock strips--this time it's candles!
This is going to be your go-to card design when you want to use up scraps, need lots of birthday cards quickly or need male/teen birthday cards.

How to Make a Cardstock Strip Candle Card
Kate took out her strips dies (but you could cut them on a trimmer or free-hand) and cut out several strips in both 1/2 inch and 1/4 inch sizes. She owns a flame die, but you could easily cut the flames free-hand as well. You could even search through your die stash for a bird wing or leaf die that resembles a flame.

This is an easy card design, since the candles do not need to be straight and can even overlap. Add a birthday diecut or sentiment strip...or even leave it with just the candles!

Supplies for the above cardstock strip cards:
- Encore in Honolulu Blue
- Bazzill Smoothies in Fig Swirl
- Scraps of yellow for flames
- Strips dies: The Stamp Market
- Flame die: Spellbinders
- Word Dies: from Hero Arts

You can use up your solid cardstock scraps, use specialty cardstock and even patterned paper.
Supplies for the above glitter strip card:
- Prosperous Purple Glitter Silk Cardstock
- Miri Lava Holographic Paper in Black
- Silver Holographic Diamonds
- Strips dies: The Stamp Market
- Flame die: Spellbinders
- Word Dies: from Hero Arts

I teach and weave textiles and paper strips. One of the resources I share often is the free online Harrisville potholder wizard. Lots of color and design ideas for strips of cardstock. https://friendlyloom.com/pages/potholder-design-wizard. All of the designs are plain weave – that is over 1, under 1for a row, followed by under 1, over 1 for the next row. There are 24 designs and then more under select preset patterns. Easily change colors of the strips. Have fun!
Love these cards! Great ideas! Might have to try making one of these cards.
