Start with a 12"x 12" inch piece of cardstock. Encore Textured Cardstock has a wide variety of colors to choose from! Trim your paper according to the photo.

paper strips for paper flower
You will need 10 strips measuring 1"x 8" inches and 10 strips measuring 1" x 6" inches.  (You can obviously use different colors of cardstock--wouldn't a rainbow flower be cute?)

Use a bone folder to slightly curve each strip--like you would make curling ribbon curly.  This helps the petals bend. You can also use a pencil to help shape if you don't have a bone folder.

Paper Strip Flower
Staple one 8" inch strip and one 6" inch strip together as in the photo below.

Align the stapled petals in a flower shape and use a paper circle (I used a 1 3/8" inch circle punch) with some hot glue to attach all the petals.

Flip over the flower and hot glue another circle to the center (this will help with stability).  Then cover these circles with additional circles for decoration.  Kate even embossed one of the circles with a dotted embossing folder.

Now your flower is complete! Kate hung her flowers with 2 tiny punch holes in one of the petals and some clear thread. You can add leaves or hot glue the flowers together to form a garland.
