Sometimes you want to learn a new technique, but sometimes you just need to be reminded of one you already knew! Design Team member Kate is here with a new twist on a technique you've seen before--Floating Cards. This time we are going to make a scene with this floating card tutorial.

For this first card, Kate used our Encore Textured Cardstock line to create the look of a sunset. Different widths of strips alternate to create the scene. A simple palm tree silhouette gets some bling by using our Sequins Glitter Cardstock.
Idea For Using Your Cardstock Scraps
This is also the perfect way to use up some of those cardstock scraps you have lying around. Often times it's hard to find ideas that will only need a small bit of cardstock!

How to Make a Floating Card
To start, Kate used a piece of acetate that was larger than her finished shape. She glued down each strip with Bearly Arts Glue and allowed it to dry. She then used a rectangle die to trim her decorated acetate down to the size she wanted.

She then applied the foam tape to the back of the acetate panel, essentially hiding the dimension behind the strips.

All that's left it to add your embellishments and sentiment and this card is ready to send.

The second card uses thicker strips but the same concept!

Hope you enjoy trying out this fun paper craft technique! The acetate gives the illusion of a floating card panel.
This isn't the first floating card Kate has made. You can check out other versions here:

Brilliant! That acetate trick is something else. To think I almost bypassed the tutorial thinking that it was going to be difficult with all those strips. Thanks for the share.
